Recent Empties!

I’ve never done an empties post before on my blog, but I actually really enjoy reading other peoples.  I think it’s really great to see what people have been loving (or not loving!) so much that they’ve finished the product.  So, today I’ve gathered up all my empty tubes and bottles in my bedroom and popped them into a post for you all to read my opinions on, and whether or not I’ll be buying them again!

SKINCARE

I only have three skincare bits for this whole post, which is weird as I thought I’d have more, but it seems I don’t!  I must be accidentally buying lots of face washes when I haven’t really run out of my current one!

Rituals – The Ritual Of Sakura Body Cream

I’ve finished  this product with much sadness!  I totally loved this body cream. Over the summer I’ve had really dry skin, I’ve been peeling from sunburn and  the Duke Of Edinburgh practice walk literally wrecked my feet.  However, after a little while, all of those problems were gone when I used this body cream!  It’s really moisturising and smells SO GOOD – it has a floral scent, which I’m not usually the biggest fan of, but this scent of rice milk and cherry blossom was super delicate and gave your skin just a hint of a scent.

Would I buy it again? Considering I got this in an M&S advent calendar last year and have loved it so much, I probably would buy it again.  It’s £6.00 for 70ml, which isn’t too bad considering that this is truly amazing!  I would love to check out some more of the rituals range!

Neutrogena – Oil Free Moisturiser

I love this moisturiser!  I actually have quite dry skin a lot of the time, and I find this to be really hydrating even though it is ‘oil free’!  I use this every morning and evening, and my only pet peeve is the packaging.  When you get close to the end, nothing comes out because its hidden in places it cannot be squeezed from! I always have to cut open the tube, which I’ll be doing after this post so I can get all the rest of the moisturiser out!  I also really love the packaging, it looks very modern and slick.

Would I buy it again? I’ve been using this moisturiser around two years now, and it’s never failed me yet so I will be buying this again very shortly.  I do sometimes think it might be nice to give my skin a bit of a change, but when you know something works you want to stick with it!

Neutrogena – Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub

This scrub isn’t the worst, don’t get me wrong.  When I first started using it, I used to quite like it.  For a while, it made my skin feel really soft and did help with blackheads to some extent, but by no means did it make them vanish.  It wasn’t really all that gentle either, and my skin isn’t even super sensitive.  After a while, it just stopped working for my skin; it didn’t cause me any problems, it just didn’t do anything good.

Would I buy it again? Plain and simple, no I wouldn’t.  I’ve found a much better neutrogena scrub now that’s more gentle, makes my skin feel soft and also smells of cucumbers!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Ahh!! I love this mascara and cannot rave about it enough! It’s the best drugstore dupe for Benefit’s Roller Lash, and makes your lashes so long! I have had this for a while now, and it lasted me a long time.  I also really love the shape of this brush, as it basically hugs your lashes so it coats them really evenly and well!  It’s well loved, as you can see by the picture: practically unrecognisable!

Would I buy it again? Considering that this mascara is one of my favourites ever, I would definitely buy it again, and also recommend it to anyone who’s looking for an affordable drugstore mascara that works!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

This is my absolute go to concealer.  So creamy, so blendable and the coverage is completely insane.  This is with me everywhere I go; I have one in my school bag, one at home and I wear it every single day.  It lasts really well, but also runs out very fast.

Would I buy it again? It’s an absolute favourite of mine, so yes I would, I always have one in stock anyway!

Seventeen Stay Time Concealer

Not for me.  I really don’t like this concealer.  I bought it out of desperation when I couldn’t find my usual concealer, and the only thing I liked about it was that it was pale enough.  It didn’t blend well and the coverage was really poor.

Would I buy it again?  I hated this one so much, I wouldn’t buy it even out of desperation again!

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer

Do my concealer empties ever end?  I enjoyed using this concealer.  The shade was really good, not bad coverage and stayed on for a long time.  However, it did have weird glitter particles in it which I assume were to make your face look more awake and glowy, but really they just annoyed me.

Would I buy it again? Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t totally hate this concealer but it wasn’t my favourite thing ever.  I don’t think I’d buy it again though.

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray

I really like this as an eyeshadow and concealer primer, and the fact that it’s two in one is really convenient.  Also, if i was feeling lazy, I could just put this on my eyes and look a bit more awake.  The coverage isn’t full, but it’s a good medium and really blendable, plus it does hold eyeshadow and concealer on really well!

Would I buy it again? Having found urban decay’s primer potion, I think I prefer that and I’m not sure that I’d buy this again.  There are some slightly better primers on the market than this one.  I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it enough to buy it again.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder

I haven’t got that much to say about this powder, other than the fact that I love it and it’s basically the only one I’ll use!  It’s really good at keeping your face oil free and matte all day, it’s perfect for wearing to school!

Would I buy it again? I use this every day, and will continue to do so forever! I would definitely buy this again!

So, that was all my empties for this post!  If you liked this post, make sure to tell me and I can do some more in the future!

My Everyday Makeup Bag – Collab!

Today I’m doing a collab which is always exciting.  This post is in collaboration with Maleehah from Beauty Filled Blog.  She’s so lovely and an amazing blogger, you should all go check out her blog and follow her!  Her post is also going to be about what things she keeps in her makeup bag on a daily basis, so make sure to go check it out!

Anyway, today I’m bringing you a closer look into what I’m using at the moment makeup wise.  This changes so often, and since I took the pictures from this post I’ve started using a new concealer!  There are some products which will never change because they’re so perfect for everyday and I love to use them, like my powder and my mascara, but others are always subject to change.  I don’t wear too much makeup on a daily basis, considering I’m in school a lot of the time and on a morning a full blown makeup routine can take quite some time – plus, I much prefer sleep!  However, I do wear some every day and this is usually what it consists of!

img_4273

First up we have suncream.  I’ll admit, I don’t do this every day, but when I do the one I would use is the ultrasun face.  It’s perfect for sitting under makeup, and it’s always really important to have a sun protection factor on your face to protect it; this one is factor 30.

img_4277

Next up would be concealer.  Like most people, I have fallen in love with the collection lasting perfection concealer.  This one is amazing, and for such an inexpensive price the lasting time and coverage is amazing, not to mention the creamy formula.  I love this one so much, and even when I do change concealers I always end up back with this!

img_4279

My mascara of choice is benefit’s roller lash, which by now you must know I adore.  I don’t know how many times I’ve raved about this mascara, but it works total magic. My eyelashes go from boring to curly and long and fluttery within minutes, and it lasts so well.  It doesn’t have a cheap, greasy formula that imprints onto your eyelids which I find so many other concealers do; this is so perfect for the hot days we’ve been having recently (can I just say THANK YOU ENGLAND!).

I always use a lip balm, and burt’s bees will forever hit the spot on that one.  My favourite one is the peppermint one.  It’s very revitalising and it makes my lipstick apply so smooth.  My lips are never chapped when I use this!

img_4274

I always use the rimmel stay matte powder, which I’m sure everyone is familiar with by now.  This is the best, most affordable powder ever and it keeps me looking matte all day long.  Need I say more!

Highlight and blush are something that are essential pieces of my routine. Too faced do amazing blushes and I love this one in the shade love flush.  It’s creamy, long lasting and pigmented, plus, the packaging is adorable!  Too faced never fail to impress me when it comes to packaging.

img_4285img_4282

For highlight, recently I’ve been loving Technics palette which I reviewed a while ago.  It’s nicely pigmented and while it doesn’t last for ages it does have a nice staying power.  Plus, it’s a much more affordable option to the sleek solstice palette.

img_4275

Because it’s getting more summery at the moment, I’ve been using my peach palette literally every day!  The too faced eyeshadow palettes are more than impressive, and if you want to see a full review on it you can click here!

Finally, I love using the too faced melted liquid lipsticks.  The shade chihuahua is my favourite, because it’s just so natural and easy to go with everything.  These feel so smooth and barely there when you have them on, but the colour payoff is amazing.

img_4273

Hope you enjoyed taking a closer look into what products I use on a daily basis.  Make sure to check out Maleehah’s post too!  Also, just as a warning I have my year ten exams coming up soon and revision is killing me so I might not be posting twice a week, but I’ll aim for once a week either on a saturday or a wednesday.  I would love to do a post on revision to help some of you out, so if you’d like to see that make sure to leave a comment!

Drugstore Starter Makeup Kit

The drugstore, or places more commonly known in the UK such as Boots or Superdrug, are the perfect places to get amazing quality makeup for a fraction of the price of some higher end brands.  Makeup from the drugstore is perfect for starting out with and even as you build your collection, these pieces are great things to have in your collection.  I’ve compiled all the products I’d put into a starter kit for someone who is starting out in makeup and wondering what to buy, and I honestly can say some of these products are my favourites!

img_3781

FOR THE FACE

The first thing you’ll want is a good foundation or BB/CC cream. Personally, I’ve always opted for foundations and BB/CC creams do not give lots of coverage, and I like to use foundation when I do want that coverage, but I don’t wear it daily.  The foundation I would recommend is the Rimmel Match Perfection (mine is in shade 100 Ivory, though this is sometimes a bit dark for my very pale skin).  Whilst the colour choices on this I don’t feel are 100% amazing, they’re pretty good but it is the formula I like the most: it is very lightweight but still provides good, buildable coverage with a smooth application.  It’s easy to work with, which I find is great in foundation as I’m not very skilled with it and when it is easy to apply I can be quick and not worry about it being patchy or cakey.  However, if you want to opt for a BB/CC cream, the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream is supposed to be really good.

Concealer is a really important part of the face makeup, as you can do so many things with it: cover up blemishes, pigmentation issues in the skin or dark spots, cover up how little sleep you get, and even highlight!  I have a few which I love, but the one I use mostly is the Seventeen Stay Time, which claims to last for 18 hours, though I can’t say I’ve worn it for that long however the longevity is really good.  The formula is very creamy, full coverage without being too thick and very brightening – the palest shade is actually pale for once, so it’s a good match to my skin!  I’d recommend this because it is such a bargain and is very comparable to other higher end concealers.  You also have probably heard about the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer as it is raved about everywhere, and I love this too.  I use it often I just find it a little thick for some areas of my face.

For powder, you can’t go wrong with the Rimmel London Stay Matte, I have used this for as long as I can remember and it never fails to impress me.  It keeps oil at bay and stops makeup from shifting around and gives a nice, matte finish.  Even the shade translucent, which has no colour to it, still ups the coverage on your face a little which I really like.  The powder doesn’t go cakey either or make your skin feel dry, which is great.  I’d recommend this to anyone: makeup collector or not!

Finally, blusher and bronzer/contour.  These steps for the face are just as important as anything else.  I personally cannot contour for the life of me, but when I do I like to use the L’oreal Glam Bronze Duo, which also comes with a highlight though I used that but don’t actually like it too much, however the bronzer is wonderful.  It’s quite cool toned which makes it really good for contour and it is matte so it doesn’t have any shimmer, creating that nice shadowy effect.  However, if you’re looking for more of a bronzed, summertime look then I often use the Rimmel Natural Bronzer which is more warm toned and has a shimmer to it, giving a nice sunkissed glow – it compliments a slight tan in summer really nicely, and even works for those of you (like me) who don’t tan!!  Blusher is hard to come by in the drugstore, at least for me, but in Superdrug the amazing value Makeup Revolution has some wonderful blushes! I recommend their Baked Blusher in the shade Make Love Instead, however I am not sure they carry this shade anymore but a very similar one is linked.  These are nice and creamy, have a subtle shimmer to them and blend really nicely.  The shade is a light pink which gives a really pretty glow.  Both the bronzer and blusher are swatched below.

FOR THE EYES

Eyes are a really important part of your makeup, and missing them out can make you look totally unfinished.  Even the littlest bit of mascara can change your look from boring to fresh eyed and awake, which is always a good thing!  As for mascaras, I head to the queen of drugstore mascaras: Maybelline.  They have great formulas which add length, volume and are beautifully dark and black, creating the perfect set of lashes!  My first choice is Lash Sensational, the purple-y bottle which is well loved as you can see.  The wand on this is amazing, it always adds great length to my eyelashes and the more coats you get, the more length.  This doesn’t go clumpy or make your eyelashes stick together, but you can get a flawless, fresh and awake look from this by making your eyelashes long and fluttery. However, if you’re not looking for major length and would prefer to opt for more volume, then Great Lash is your mascara!  This wand is a lot chunkier and much more bristle-y which means every lash gets a heavy helping of mascara, creating a big and voluminous effect, and you can still easily achieve length with this – the packaging is also really fun!  I’d recommend a light hand when applying this mascara as the formula is very wet and so can be quite sticky and easy to clump your lashes together with.

As for eyeshadow, quads/mini palettes are where it’s at. This one is from Rimmel in the shade Brixton Brown, and is the Glam Eyes HD.  Mine is heavily used, which is why the swatches aren’t the best but the middle coppery shade is beautiful as is the shimmery cream/white.  The formula of these eyshadows is great and they’re easy to blend, but the fallout is quite substantial but not a major issue.  This five pan palette can easily take you from day to night and I swear by the dark brown shade for my eyebrows, so you’re killing two birds with one stone here!

img_3787

There isn’t a shimmery purple in the palette which is odd as it looks like it here, that shade is infact the darker matte browny/black.

On a final note for eyes, you’ll need liner.  Well, you don’t need liner, because  my god that stuff is hard!  But if you do want to venture into the world of liners, then the Seventeen High Drama one is really good and I find it relatively easy to apply.

img_3785

FOR THE LIPS

For your lips, you can find some amazing quality lipsticks for absolute bargain prices! I’m going to show you two of my favourites today: a more natural, everyday lipstick and a matte lip which is perfect for summer.  Starting with the Collection Lasting Colour lipstick in the shade rosewood.  This is perfect for everyday wear and is super creamy and stays on really well, which I love.  It is a ‘my lips but a lot better’ sort of a colour, and it’s super cheap whilst not suffering in quality.  I’d love to try some other colours from this range.  Next up is a matte lip favourite, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Milan.   These are the best drugstore matte liquid lipstick I’ve tried, and they’re really well priced too.  They’re super matte meaning they can be quite drying so make sure to have a good lipbalm on hand for when you’ve taken this off.  This colour is a bright barbie pink type colour but the packaging does make it look more neutral, so be sure to swatch this before you buy it, however I think it’s really fun for the summer, plus it smells divine!

Winter Essentials 2016

Hi guys,

For todays blogmas post, I thought I’d show you my essential items for winter.  Winter is my favourite season because it is so cosy and festive, and what better way to be cosy and festive than to have all the things you need personally to stay alive in this cold time of the year!

img_3573

First up for me is candles.  My favourite is the Yankee Candle in Christmas Eve, and I’m burning the votive version of this in this adorable candle holder.  This scent really epitomises Christmas for me and so I love to burn it throughout the winter season.  Another amazing scent is Cosy By The Fireside which is a more general winter scent so is perfect for sneaking out that little bit too early (back in August…)!

img_3578

Next up is my lipbalm.  I always keep repurchasing this lipbalm because it’s amazing.  It is so moisturising and makes your lips so soft and keeps them in tip top condition which is especially important around the wintertime when cold weather can really eat away at them!  It is also great for summer as it has SPF15 in it so will protect your lips from the sun, not that we get much of that in England! The packaging is so compact and you can easily bring it everywhere with you!

img_3577

Next, which is a major essential for me and my fellow beauty lovers, is red lipsticks.  A classic red lip is perfect to be worn around Christmas/winter, and these two are my favourite.  The Kiko one you can find a review on here  and the Rimmel one is yet to be reviewed, but one may come soon if you’d like to see it?  A red lip is so important to me in winter because it finishes off your makeup perfectly.

img_3575

Next up is my dressing gown.  This is something I need because I’m always freezing, and a big fluffy thing wrapped around me is so cosy and keeps me nice and warm.  You can get this from Tesco and it was only £20.00 I think, which is a bargain for such a nice quality, cute dressing gown.

img_3576

The final thing are my ‘slippers’.  These are actually long cosy socks, because I hate wearing slippers.  I love how cute these are, and the thread has a slight shimmer to it which makes them super festive.  They’re fleecy inside too, for optimum warmth!!

So, I really hope you enjoyed reading about my essentials for winter!  What is your number one essential?

My Daily Makeup Routine For School

Before I start, this is in no means a makeup tutorial.  And I am in no means a makeup artist.  I cant even draw a straight line.  I’m useless.  You guys probably won’t even find this interesting.  But if you do, and for whatever odd fluke of a feeling (you’re most likely unwell, seek medical attention) that makes you want to take inspiration from this look or even better still, copy it, I’d be honoured.  And lastly, in this odd disclaimer like paragraph, sorry you can’t actually see the final look.  You know, anonymous blogging and all.

So, today I’m showing you the makeup I wear to school & on an every day basis.  This makeup look is quite light, and I do change it up on a weekend or when I’m going out and go heavier (especially on the eyes).  Anyway, here is my light daily makeup routine.

img_0311

So first I’ll cleanse my face & put on some moisturiser, but I’m not going to go into detail with that as I do have a skincare routine coming up. I will then take my Rimmel London Lasting Finish concealer in shade porcelain, which is the lightest shade so suits my ghostly skin, and taking this on a small concealer brush I will place it under my eyes, around my nose and over any blemishes or spots.  I then blend this in with a larger brush.

I will then take my Rimmel London Match Perfection Loose Powder in shade translucent and dust this all over my face, not only to set my concealer but to mattify the the rest of my face, eliminating any oiliness I may experince throughout the day.  After this I apply a small touch of Boot’s own brand Natural Collection blush in shade dusky pink to the apples of my cheek.  I really love how creamy & easy to blend this blush is, and how the colour is not too harsh.  It is a perfect colour for pale skin tones.  Sometimes if I have time I will do a light contour and highlight but most of the time I tend not to.

After this, I quickly apply some lip balm in preparation for my lipstick later on.  I use the Palmers original cocoa butter formula moisturising lip balm, which I love and is my go to lip balm.

Next is my eyes, where I will go to my absolute favourite eye-shadow palette at the moment, which is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.

img_0312-1

Firstly, I’ll take the shade Salted Carmel and use this in my crease and just above as a transitional colour.  I’ll then take Milk Chocolate and use this directly into my crease to add a touch more depth and definition.  After that I take Creme Brulee & Marzipan together onto my eyelid.  The two together are very shimmery, as they are alone but when blended together they look quite discreet and generally lovely.  They are quite eye-enlargening if you know what I mean, and I just love the look this gives.  One tip I have is to make sure you blend everything into each other.  You want this eye look to be seamless and very well blended because then it will look more natural & just better.  It’s a pet peeve of mine when peoples eye-shadow isn’t blended and they have really harsh lines.

Lastly for my eyes, I will line my tight line (upper waterline) with a black eye pencil to make my lashes look thicker, then curl my eyelashes so they are ready for mascara.  The mascara I use is Maybelline Lash Sensational & this is honestly my favourite mascara of all time ever.  It makes your eyelashes so individual and long, which I prefer to volume.  I like my eyelashes to be perfect, so I can spend up to 10 minutes on these getting them all the right length.

And finally to complete the look, I apply some Collection lipstick in shade Rosewood.  Sometimes I line my lips beforehand, other times not.  It depends on all the time I have.

So, there you have it.  My daily makeup routine for school.  I really hoped you enjoyed this, because I did.  I hope to do many more makeup themed posts on this blog – you’ll definitely be seeing some in the very near future!

Bye!
