YSL Touche Eclat Review

I recently went on a trip to Berlin with school, and in duty free at the airport I decided to treat myself as I had loads of euros left over.  It was a really small one at Berlin Tegel Airport, but they did have a YSL stand and I had wanted this foundation for quite a while so I decided to get it.  They didn’t have super pale shades, which is what I would’ve usually deviated for, but I was pretty surprised to find that the shade ‘cool sand’ actually matched my skin pretty well; maybe I’d even got a tan over the nice weather we had a few weeks ago!

IMG_3993.JPG

The packaging is super luxurious!  I love it, and it looks really high end.  Glass foundation bottles always seem really special to me, and the gold writing and gold lid just add to the luxury feel.

The application is amazing.  It goes on flawlessly, and blends in to create a really glowy, dewy finish.  The foundation is quite liquid, which, duh, but it is quite a runny formula but I like that.  It makes it more moisturising, which helps with my dry skin.  It doesn’t sink into your skin and end up looking cakey, which I find can be a problem when foundation sinks into my smiles lines around my mouth.  It is really long lasting and I can put it on before I go to school, and it will still be pretty much perfect by the time I’m done with the day.  It can be really natural and perfect for everyday, but it can also be made more glam and full coverage for the nighttime, which makes it a really ideal foundation.

This cost me 41 euros, but it is £33 in debenhams, and I think it’s really worth the money.  It’s a quality foundation, and it will last a good six months if not more.  I’m really glad I bought it, and would recommend it to anyone!

The Miracle For Your Brushes: The Technic Brush Cleanser

If you’re anything like me, you don’t wash your makeup brushes anywhere near enough. This is because it’s such a chore to do, it can take up to an hour for me to wash my brushes, and the usual lazy persons shampoo method takes ages to truly get them clean. Makeup experts say you should clean your brushes after every use, but for us thats generally just too much effort!  However, I have managed to find my makeup brushes new saviour; Technic’s Brush Cleanser.  This amazing product makes it insanely easy to clean your brushes.  Now, you can wash your brushes as often as you want because this really makes it so easy!

IMG_3987

The cleanser is a solid, almost balm like consistency.  It is quite clear coloured in the tub, but it isn’t at all liquid or gel like, which is more what I had expected, so this was quite a surprise.  It smells very lightly of cucumber which is nicely refreshing, but let’s get onto what it actually does.

Firstly, you wet the brush you want to clean.  It doesn’t have to be super wet, but quite wet is good.  Then, swirl it into the cleanser; don’t worry about getting any of the pigment from the brush onto the soap, as it simply washes away with a splash of water leaving it looking as good as new.  Then, you swirl it around in your hand and you’ll see literally all the makeup from the brush just vanish!! It’s kind of insane how well this works!  Anyway, you then just need to wash away the excess soap from the brush pretty thoroughly, as sometimes there can be some excess left over in the base of the brush.  I then dry it by swirling my brush on a towel, and I find they actually dry kind of quicker when I use this too.  Also, this leaves the brush super super soft, which I love.  It has improved the quality of my brushes, and I’m super happy with it!

IMG_3986

It retails for £6.51 on amazon, and for the amount of product you get, this is amazing.  It’s going to last you for a long long time, and so it’s really affordable, especially for such a great product.

Have you ever tried a brush cleaner like this?  Tell me in the comments.

My Everyday Makeup Bag – Collab!

Today I’m doing a collab which is always exciting.  This post is in collaboration with Maleehah from Beauty Filled Blog.  She’s so lovely and an amazing blogger, you should all go check out her blog and follow her!  Her post is also going to be about what things she keeps in her makeup bag on a daily basis, so make sure to go check it out!

Anyway, today I’m bringing you a closer look into what I’m using at the moment makeup wise.  This changes so often, and since I took the pictures from this post I’ve started using a new concealer!  There are some products which will never change because they’re so perfect for everyday and I love to use them, like my powder and my mascara, but others are always subject to change.  I don’t wear too much makeup on a daily basis, considering I’m in school a lot of the time and on a morning a full blown makeup routine can take quite some time – plus, I much prefer sleep!  However, I do wear some every day and this is usually what it consists of!

img_4273

First up we have suncream.  I’ll admit, I don’t do this every day, but when I do the one I would use is the ultrasun face.  It’s perfect for sitting under makeup, and it’s always really important to have a sun protection factor on your face to protect it; this one is factor 30.

img_4277

Next up would be concealer.  Like most people, I have fallen in love with the collection lasting perfection concealer.  This one is amazing, and for such an inexpensive price the lasting time and coverage is amazing, not to mention the creamy formula.  I love this one so much, and even when I do change concealers I always end up back with this!

img_4279

My mascara of choice is benefit’s roller lash, which by now you must know I adore.  I don’t know how many times I’ve raved about this mascara, but it works total magic. My eyelashes go from boring to curly and long and fluttery within minutes, and it lasts so well.  It doesn’t have a cheap, greasy formula that imprints onto your eyelids which I find so many other concealers do; this is so perfect for the hot days we’ve been having recently (can I just say THANK YOU ENGLAND!).

I always use a lip balm, and burt’s bees will forever hit the spot on that one.  My favourite one is the peppermint one.  It’s very revitalising and it makes my lipstick apply so smooth.  My lips are never chapped when I use this!

img_4274

I always use the rimmel stay matte powder, which I’m sure everyone is familiar with by now.  This is the best, most affordable powder ever and it keeps me looking matte all day long.  Need I say more!

Highlight and blush are something that are essential pieces of my routine. Too faced do amazing blushes and I love this one in the shade love flush.  It’s creamy, long lasting and pigmented, plus, the packaging is adorable!  Too faced never fail to impress me when it comes to packaging.

img_4285img_4282

For highlight, recently I’ve been loving Technics palette which I reviewed a while ago.  It’s nicely pigmented and while it doesn’t last for ages it does have a nice staying power.  Plus, it’s a much more affordable option to the sleek solstice palette.

img_4275

Because it’s getting more summery at the moment, I’ve been using my peach palette literally every day!  The too faced eyeshadow palettes are more than impressive, and if you want to see a full review on it you can click here!

Finally, I love using the too faced melted liquid lipsticks.  The shade chihuahua is my favourite, because it’s just so natural and easy to go with everything.  These feel so smooth and barely there when you have them on, but the colour payoff is amazing.

img_4273

Hope you enjoyed taking a closer look into what products I use on a daily basis.  Make sure to check out Maleehah’s post too!  Also, just as a warning I have my year ten exams coming up soon and revision is killing me so I might not be posting twice a week, but I’ll aim for once a week either on a saturday or a wednesday.  I would love to do a post on revision to help some of you out, so if you’d like to see that make sure to leave a comment!

Gobsmacked Lipsticks Review

Recently, the lovely Sophie from Gobsmacked Lipsticks sent me one of her lipsticks to try, and boy am I impressed!  Gobsmacked is a new brand, launching in August 2017 and they are all about making vegan lipsticks that don’t contain any nasty and potentially dangerous chemicals.  I used to think that eco-friendly lipsticks/cosmetics meant that the final product would suffer in quality, but this lipstick has proved me so wrong; if anything, it has more staying power than lipsticks I usually use such as Rimmel London ones or Collection ones!

img_4147

As you can see, the packaging looks very luxurious, and the gold band compliments the bamboo tube really nicely.  The lid fits onto the base of the lipstick really nicely, and pulls off really smoothly which is always something I look for in a lipstick; quality packaging is so important!  The tube feels really sturdy and nice to hold.

The formula is amazing, it’s very smooth and doesn’t drag on your lips – it glides really nicely.  It smells divine, and is very moisturising all the while having a demi-matte type finish.  It’s very pigmented and has an amazing hold, it lasts me a whole day at school easily.

img_4149

The shade is so nice.  It looks very mauvey purple, but it’s a very wearable dark nude which I’m really enjoying wearing whilst we’re on the run up to spring, although it does seem like we are in summer today; it’s been 27 degrees in my garden (i’m just a little burnt!).

You should definitely check out these lipsticks when they’re all up and running in August – I’m positive everyone will love these because there really is a shade for everyone!

P.S – Thank you so much for 300 followers going on for 310!  What should I do to celebrate, make sure to leave me a comment xx!

Beauty UK Review

The lovely team over at Beauty UK have sent me some products to try and review for you guys, and I’ve really loved all of them!  Some of the colours are quite out there, and not necessairly what I’d choose but it’s always really fun to experiment.  It included lots of pink shades, which are perfect for spring but as I’m more of a neutral shades sort of girl, it’s helped to push me out of my comfort zone and try new things (like the hot pink nail polish which I’m absolutely loving!).  Sorry for the constant reviews at the moment guys – I will be getting some more varied posts up soon but for now I’ve been really excited to review all these gorgeous products.

IMG_3826

Starting off with the product I was most excited to receive: the Ultimate Pro Contour Palette.  I’m not good at contouring at all, but I’m very excited to start practising!  This palette has a really wide range of colours, which are both contouring and highlighting ones.  The undertones are quite cool for the contour shades though the very far one has got a slight orange base, which could easily be used to bronze the face.  The shades are highly pigmented and as it is a cream formula they blend really nicely and have flawless application.  I’m sure that after I’ve used this a little more I’ll be able to contour like a very bad pro – the infographic on the back of the packaging is really helpful to let you know where to contour, bronze and highlight and provides useful information on the product.  The packaging is matte black, meaning it could be a magnet for makeup covered finger prints though it can be wiped down easily and it looks very luxury.

IMG_3854

IMG_3860IMG_3859

Next up is another cream product.  I’ve never really ventured into the world of cream face makeup, but I’m really glad I’ve now got some products which are of that nature as they are really versatile and lovely. I was sent a cream blush to review, the Sweet Cheeks cream blush in the shade peachy cream.  This cream blush is easy to blend and has great pigmentation, the colour is perfect for spring and suits a range of skin tones. I’m really pale and it gives me a nice, healthy glow and I imagine it would look lovely in summer with a nice tan (a girl can dream!)

IMG_3845IMG_3835

I was also sent a matte lip cream, which as we all know, are huge in the beauty world and I too have latched onto the trend and purchased a few too many.  My favourite brand is NYX for matte lip creams, though the ones by Beauty UK are quite comparable.  I was sent the Lips Matter matte lip cream in the shade Mauve Your Body, and it really is great.  It dries matte almost instantly and has great pigmentation.  One thing I find with liquid lipstick/matte lip creams is that they can be sticky when dry, but this isn’t, which is always a major plus.  However, I wouldn’t say this is true to shade.  It definitely is not a mauve shade, but more of a hot pink, and I would definitely compare the shade to NYX’s soft matte lip cream in Milan (review here). Whilst it’s still a nice shade and will be lovely for summer when you really want a bold, vibrant pop of pink, it most definitely is not a mauve. The packaging is lovely and really professional looking, I especially love the white banding and writing; it’s very modern.  The applicator is a doe foot style so it fits to the natural shape of your lips nicely allowing even application.

IMG_3848IMG_3830

I was sent a lipgloss, which was a real surprise to receive as I haven’t used one in a long time!  I was never a huge lipgloss lover, I often found them sticky and annoying as my hair would get blown into it and stuck there.  However, when I opened this I was excited to try it out and maybe find a new love for lipgloss?  The lipgloss I was sent was the Glacier Gloss in Peach For The Sky.  This is not a super pigmented shade, but it does give a nice peachy gloss to the lips and is perfect for an everyday wear.  It is very moisturising and isn’t super sticky but still quite sticky and not all smooth on the lips.  The application is nice though and it glides on quite effortlessly.  I adore the packaging – the glossy black lid with the clear top to it is very luxurious and the design process seems to have been very thorough for the lipgloss and all these other products!

IMG_3852IMG_3847

The very last thing I was sent was a nail polish.  Now, I am not a nail guru in any way shape or form and my nails are not nice; they’re usually never painted and are never one length.  If I do wear nail polish I chip it within a day or smudge it; I’m really not very dainty.  However, getting this through the post has inspired me to paint my nails and while I didnt use this exact colour, I used a blue/turquoise/green from Avon, I’m really loving it and so far there’s no damage!  Anyway, onto the nail polish I was sent in the shade Pink Pop.  This is a really bold shade and could make a real statement to an outfit, which I’m all for.  The colour is highly pigmented after a couple of coats on the nail it is fully opaque.  The formula edges a little towards the gloopy side but if you give a good shake to the bottle before you use it, you should be fine.  I look forward to using this colour more and more as we edge into the spring and summer months and I think it’ll be really nice to make an outfit that bit more exciting; nail polish can really finish off a look.

IMG_3850IMG_3844

Finally, here are some swatches of the blush, matte lip and gloss in order!  As you can see, the peachy blush is very soft and delicate (on the very top) and so is the gloss (on the very bottom) but I wouldn’t say that the middle shade is very mauve, as it was described to be.  Nonetheless it is lovely and I will be wearing it lots!

Technic Makeup Review

Technic is a brand I love and have worked with before in this post, so when they offered to send me out some more of their amazing products to try I was really excited to say yes! I’m really excited to review all the products for you, and if you’d like to see these used in a makeup tutorial on my blog soon then make sure to leave a comment so I know you’ll want to see that. I’ve really loved using this makeup over the past few days and I hope you’ll all enjoy hearing about them.

img_3997

Starting with my absolute favourite; Mega Lash Mascara!  I first saw this mascara and thought, oh my god, the packaging.  It’s matte black and has silver, bold writing.  It sticks out in my makeup collection and looks so pretty.  The brush is so amazing, it’s really thick and chunky but has lots and lots of tiny bristles all over it which hook your eyelashes and ensure every single one is coated jet black. It gives length to the lashes, all the while creating a beautiful, glamorous, voluminous look.  I think this has become a definite staple in my collection when I want voluminous eyelashes without compromising on the quality of a product; this doesn’t go clumpy, doesn’t make my eyelashes stick together and it never makes them feel heavy, which I feel can sometimes be a bit of a downside to these sorts of mascaras.  Mega Lash ticks all the right boxes!

img_4009-3

Up next  is something I was really intrigued about, the Brow Pen.  This is in the shade medium brown, which is actually quite dark, my eyebrows are dark brown and this matched pretty well.  it’s confusing, as it’s a felt pen sort of a nib, so replicates an eyeliner, except the actual tip isn’t flexible and has quite a flat shape to it.  It’s very fluid though, and does an excellent job at defining my eyebrows and giving them structure – it’s easy to create precise hair lines making this ideal for filling in sparse brows.  It does seem to last a long time, the formula actually reminds me of a lip stain or something of a similar longevity.  I really love how thin it is as it’s really comfortable to hold and the packaging is very aesthetically pleasing.  My only downside is that this smells quite alcohol like and therefore could be irritating to some people.

img_4003-1

Next up is something I’ve been sent by Technic before, but it was received with open arms! I adore this Get Gorgeous Highlighter and since I have a duplicate of it now I shall be giving it to my Mum as she also really likes it and often pinches mine!  It’s a gorgeous bronze shade, which is very out there for a highlighter in my view – I’m not yet fully confident with wearing such bold highlight!  However, it will look gorgeous in summer and give a lovely bronzed glow to the cheekbones, and could easily be used as an eyeshadow as this has insane pigmentation (swatches to follow!).  The product in the pan is very luxurious, arranged in varying swirls, it looks really impressive!

img_4006-3

The next product that Technic sent was their eyeshadow primer which is specially formulated for use with shimmer eyeshadows.  This is really good, and I honestly didn’t expect it to be.  I was thinking along the lines of creasing and not working, or just sitting on the lid awkwardly like a weird liquid eyeshadow but it actually creates a really nice, tacky base for applying eyeshadow to.  Plus, it’s pearly pink shade looks really nice underneath lighter shaded eyeshadows, and you can’t even notice it under darker ones.  It definitely helps eyeshadow to stay on longer.  The packaging is again very attractive – well done Technic on the packaging front, it’s gorgeous!  Again, my only downside would be the slight alcoholic scent to this which isn’t ideal considering it’s going around the eyes.

img_4010-3

Finally, I was sent the colour correcting loose powder.  Now, the first thing I do whenever I get a loose powder is I smell it – weird, I know, but you’ll see why.  I hate it when they smell like flowers and old ladies, it really puts me off.  Guess what? This one doesn’t!  Plus, it’s actually so amazing!  It’s not too full coverage but because it has a yellowy tone to it, it really helps to calm and cover some of my mild redness, and it’s really good at absorbing oils and keeping you matte all day. It’s super finely milled so it creates an airbrushed, flawless finish to the face when it’s on.  I really love this, and while it wont ever take over my beloved Rimmel Stay Matte, it’s a close competitor!

img_4004-2

And finally, for the swatches.  From top to bottom we have the eyeshadow primer, the brow pen and then the get gorgeous highlighter.  Let’s applaud my artistic skills in drawing that abysmal love heart!

You can find Technic’s products over on Love Thy Makeup, but they also sell on amazon!

February Favourites

I feel like I haven’t blogged in a while which is probably true as I have missed a week, but it was my first week back at school and I had lots of tests and quizzes (all of which I did okay on, even getting an A in Chemistry which is my weakest subject so I was so happy with that!).  I should be back into the swing of things after this week, as I sit my Food Technology GCSE on the very day you are reading this – in fact, I will have done it by the time this is posted.  I can’t wait to have it over and done with and I really hope I can achieve the merit or better still distinction I am hoping for.

Onto the actual post, I’m coming at you with a February favourites and what I’ve been loving in this month.  I’m not sure how everyone feels about favourites posts – I feel like they can end up all too common at the end of the month, every man and his dog are doing them and your readers are littered with very similar posts.  Nonetheless, they can always be interesting to see what someone has been loving! Make sure to tell me in the comments if favourites posts are something you’d like to see more often.

img_3990

So, first off I’ll start with makeup products.  There isn’t too much here but definitely some things I have really been enjoying!  First up is the NYX Lip Lingerie in the shade ruffle trim.  This is a more recent purchase which I bought in Bournemouth at the weekend, but i have been wearing it ever since and it is becoming a staple in my lip collection!  It’s a very natural colour, a dark pinky-mauve-nude and I will say one thing; it is very, very matte.  And with extremely matte things not only comes a gorgeous look but insane dryness of the lips.  I try not to use this too often just because it does in fact make my lips feel like the Sahara desert (a good lip balm is very necessary – I reviewed these ones the other week which I’ve been using and they’re great!) however I’m willing to sacrifice my lips to it because it’s so damn pretty!  The formula dries matte very fast and is very lightweight so not noticeable at all apart from if you smack your lips together, which is when it can be quite sticky.  The applicator is long and quite thin which makes it relatively hard to apply, unlike a doe foot applicator, however it is still rather easy.

img_3991

Then I have this lipstick from Jack Wills which I got for Christmas from a friend but have just recently started to use as it is a very pink-nude spring time colour and although right now the UK is not screaming spring (thanks Doris for ruining my week!), I for one cannot wait for warmer weather, which naturally I reflect in my lipstick taste!  It’s very moisturising and the colour payoff is lovely – it does tend to look bad on chapped lips so do make sure they’re treated with lip balm for a few days before you wear this.  The packaging is a matte navy with silver accents which I think is very chic and appropriate for Jack Wills.

img_3994

Last is not a lip product but actually an eyebrow gel by Pixi.  I never before realised just how crucial an eyebrow gel can be in your makeup routine until I got this in my M&S beauty calendar and have used it ever since.  I think it really polishes off a makeup look, and the copper lettering on it (although it has slightly worn off now) is absolutely gorgeous.img_3993

Next up is skincare.  I’ve recently been using the Neutrogena grapefruit face wash and not only is the bottle very aesthetically pleasing, the product is amazing!  The scent really wakes you up on a morning, but isn’t strong enough to irritate even the driest, most sensitive skin (aka mine).  It makes your skin feel very soft and super clean!  I’ve also been using the Superdrug hydrating face mask which you can see my review on here , but it has totally been my skin saviour during these freezing storms we’ve been having.

img_3988

img_3987.jpg

Next up is the Garnier Micellar Water which I’ve re-purchased and been using again.  I cannot get over how amazing this product is, it’s hyped up in the beauty world for such a good reason – it hydrated your skin whilst literally removing makeup with one stroke.  It’s such a miracle product, everyone needs this in their skincare routine.

In my apparent hunt for spring, I’ve been loving fresh, fruity scents.  I’ve been using the body sprays from hollister more and more often than usual this month and one which I often use is Pallisade Beach.  This smells so fruity and tropical, very reminiscent of summer for me!  I always have one in my school bag and a couple at home and I seem to go through these like wildfire – it’s a good job that hollister have offers of 3 for 2 on them more than often.

img_3996.jpg

Last but not least is my diary. I got this for Christmas and have loved using it to help me organise my week and all the homework I have.  I think that especially for GCSE students, a diary is essential.  My school uses an online homework facility but as great as it is for accessing it anywhere and a good functioning tick list system, it never keeps me fully organised.  I love to use my diary to plan every aspect of my week, from school work to blog posts to what I’m doing at the weekend.  I’ve also included a picture of what a typical weekly spread in my diary might look like, although it’s not super artistic like some you see!

Hope you enjoyed this post – do we have any of the same favourites this month?  Sorry about the appalling pictures, it was dark when I took them and that was the only free slot of time I had to write and produce this post.  I’ll update them by the weekend when I’ve got much more free time!  Wish me luck on my GCSE, lets hope it went ok!

Lypsyl Valentines Day Lip Balms

img_3850

With Valentines day coming up, what better time than to grab an amazing lip balm which not only smells divine but does an amazing job! Lypsyl have very kindly sent me their new valentines releases – two beautiful lip balms perfect for Valentines day!  The first, ‘Uplifting strawberry and pomegranate’ is the one I’m going to talk about now, and I’ll do the next one later in the post.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Strawberry and pomegranate is the most amazing scent combination which is fruity and fun and always remains smelling great, even whilst it’s on your lips!  As soon as you pull off the lid you get a sniff of this scent, which I personally love however I imagine some who are not into very strong scents don’t.  It does remind me a lot of spring and summer, which makes me very excited for the upcoming seasons.  The packaging is a pretty reddish pink colour, again perfect for Valentines day.

“Who needs Cupid when you have Lypsyl’s luxurious lip balms? Pucker up with Lypsyl’s uplifting Strawberry and Pomegranate, your smooth and soft lips will be the perfect gift for your Valentine’s date.”

This lip balm also contains SPF15, which is very important all year round as our lips can get burnt and using a nice, protective lip balm can obviously help that not happen!  It is made with aloe vera, vitamin E and avocado oil which does all sorts of wonderful for your lips.  This lip balm is intensely moisturising, which of course is perfect for February as it is very cold – I’ve been putting lip balms to the test recently and cannot wait to fully try these out and battle them against the elements.  The packaging is also really sturdy and compact, which is perfect to grab and throw in your handbag before you leave the house.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

The cherry and almond lip balm has a slightly more subtle fragrance but nonetheless still smells wonderful.  It is a much more natural scent for anyone who doesn’t like super fruity scented things, and personally I much prefer the darker red colouring of this lip balm and think it is much more suited to Valentines day.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, Lypsyl Cherry and Almond will revitalise you! The delicately scented SPF lip balm will gently hydrate and soothe your lips for an ultra-kissable pout.”

As with the other lip balm, this is too made with SPF15 and contains aloe vera, vitamin E and avocado oil.  I do find this one slightly more moisturising, and whether or not that is down to the almond part of it I do not know, however it does seem a lot more moisturising.  Again, the packaging is really nice and sturdy whilst still being small enough to put anywhere for maximum convenience.  I think this is a great lip balm and they’ve totally convinced me to rekindle the love I had for Lypsyl’s products way back in primary school; does anyone remember the lip balm they had that was raspberry scented or something and was a purple colour and used to smell (and taste!) divine?  Everyone had one of these I seem to remember!

Neither of these lip balms are tinted, so they sit on the lips really nicely and lightly, you hardly notice they’re there.  They also don’t have the nasty tingling sensation that some others do.

You can buy Strawberry And Pomegranate from here , for only £1.89 along with Cherry And Almond here.  I’d really recommend picking one of these up if you’re looking for an affordable, super moisturising and great smelling lip balm to make your lips ultra soft for Valentines day!

Drugstore Starter Makeup Kit

The drugstore, or places more commonly known in the UK such as Boots or Superdrug, are the perfect places to get amazing quality makeup for a fraction of the price of some higher end brands.  Makeup from the drugstore is perfect for starting out with and even as you build your collection, these pieces are great things to have in your collection.  I’ve compiled all the products I’d put into a starter kit for someone who is starting out in makeup and wondering what to buy, and I honestly can say some of these products are my favourites!

img_3781

FOR THE FACE

The first thing you’ll want is a good foundation or BB/CC cream. Personally, I’ve always opted for foundations and BB/CC creams do not give lots of coverage, and I like to use foundation when I do want that coverage, but I don’t wear it daily.  The foundation I would recommend is the Rimmel Match Perfection (mine is in shade 100 Ivory, though this is sometimes a bit dark for my very pale skin).  Whilst the colour choices on this I don’t feel are 100% amazing, they’re pretty good but it is the formula I like the most: it is very lightweight but still provides good, buildable coverage with a smooth application.  It’s easy to work with, which I find is great in foundation as I’m not very skilled with it and when it is easy to apply I can be quick and not worry about it being patchy or cakey.  However, if you want to opt for a BB/CC cream, the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream is supposed to be really good.

Concealer is a really important part of the face makeup, as you can do so many things with it: cover up blemishes, pigmentation issues in the skin or dark spots, cover up how little sleep you get, and even highlight!  I have a few which I love, but the one I use mostly is the Seventeen Stay Time, which claims to last for 18 hours, though I can’t say I’ve worn it for that long however the longevity is really good.  The formula is very creamy, full coverage without being too thick and very brightening – the palest shade is actually pale for once, so it’s a good match to my skin!  I’d recommend this because it is such a bargain and is very comparable to other higher end concealers.  You also have probably heard about the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer as it is raved about everywhere, and I love this too.  I use it often I just find it a little thick for some areas of my face.

For powder, you can’t go wrong with the Rimmel London Stay Matte, I have used this for as long as I can remember and it never fails to impress me.  It keeps oil at bay and stops makeup from shifting around and gives a nice, matte finish.  Even the shade translucent, which has no colour to it, still ups the coverage on your face a little which I really like.  The powder doesn’t go cakey either or make your skin feel dry, which is great.  I’d recommend this to anyone: makeup collector or not!

Finally, blusher and bronzer/contour.  These steps for the face are just as important as anything else.  I personally cannot contour for the life of me, but when I do I like to use the L’oreal Glam Bronze Duo, which also comes with a highlight though I used that but don’t actually like it too much, however the bronzer is wonderful.  It’s quite cool toned which makes it really good for contour and it is matte so it doesn’t have any shimmer, creating that nice shadowy effect.  However, if you’re looking for more of a bronzed, summertime look then I often use the Rimmel Natural Bronzer which is more warm toned and has a shimmer to it, giving a nice sunkissed glow – it compliments a slight tan in summer really nicely, and even works for those of you (like me) who don’t tan!!  Blusher is hard to come by in the drugstore, at least for me, but in Superdrug the amazing value Makeup Revolution has some wonderful blushes! I recommend their Baked Blusher in the shade Make Love Instead, however I am not sure they carry this shade anymore but a very similar one is linked.  These are nice and creamy, have a subtle shimmer to them and blend really nicely.  The shade is a light pink which gives a really pretty glow.  Both the bronzer and blusher are swatched below.

FOR THE EYES

Eyes are a really important part of your makeup, and missing them out can make you look totally unfinished.  Even the littlest bit of mascara can change your look from boring to fresh eyed and awake, which is always a good thing!  As for mascaras, I head to the queen of drugstore mascaras: Maybelline.  They have great formulas which add length, volume and are beautifully dark and black, creating the perfect set of lashes!  My first choice is Lash Sensational, the purple-y bottle which is well loved as you can see.  The wand on this is amazing, it always adds great length to my eyelashes and the more coats you get, the more length.  This doesn’t go clumpy or make your eyelashes stick together, but you can get a flawless, fresh and awake look from this by making your eyelashes long and fluttery. However, if you’re not looking for major length and would prefer to opt for more volume, then Great Lash is your mascara!  This wand is a lot chunkier and much more bristle-y which means every lash gets a heavy helping of mascara, creating a big and voluminous effect, and you can still easily achieve length with this – the packaging is also really fun!  I’d recommend a light hand when applying this mascara as the formula is very wet and so can be quite sticky and easy to clump your lashes together with.

As for eyeshadow, quads/mini palettes are where it’s at. This one is from Rimmel in the shade Brixton Brown, and is the Glam Eyes HD.  Mine is heavily used, which is why the swatches aren’t the best but the middle coppery shade is beautiful as is the shimmery cream/white.  The formula of these eyshadows is great and they’re easy to blend, but the fallout is quite substantial but not a major issue.  This five pan palette can easily take you from day to night and I swear by the dark brown shade for my eyebrows, so you’re killing two birds with one stone here!

There isn’t a shimmery purple in the palette which is odd as it looks like it here, that shade is infact the darker matte browny/black.

On a final note for eyes, you’ll need liner.  Well, you don’t need liner, because  my god that stuff is hard!  But if you do want to venture into the world of liners, then the Seventeen High Drama one is really good and I find it relatively easy to apply.

FOR THE LIPS

For your lips, you can find some amazing quality lipsticks for absolute bargain prices! I’m going to show you two of my favourites today: a more natural, everyday lipstick and a matte lip which is perfect for summer.  Starting with the Collection Lasting Colour lipstick in the shade rosewood.  This is perfect for everyday wear and is super creamy and stays on really well, which I love.  It is a ‘my lips but a lot better’ sort of a colour, and it’s super cheap whilst not suffering in quality.  I’d love to try some other colours from this range.  Next up is a matte lip favourite, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Milan.   These are the best drugstore matte liquid lipstick I’ve tried, and they’re really well priced too.  They’re super matte meaning they can be quite drying so make sure to have a good lipbalm on hand for when you’ve taken this off.  This colour is a bright barbie pink type colour but the packaging does make it look more neutral, so be sure to swatch this before you buy it, however I think it’s really fun for the summer, plus it smells divine!

Makeup Wishlist 2017

I’ve been so busy at the moment, with homework and revision, which is why I haven’t posted for a week or two.  I’m sorry, and the schedule is back on track now.  I have a food technology mock exam on the 9th of February and then on the 1st of March I sit the exam for real – heres hoping I’ll do okay!  I’m going to be revising a lot over the next few weeks leading up to my mock and then all I’ll do until the GCSE is hardcore revision and homework.  I’m not looking forward to it, but at least it’ll be a GCSE done so I have less to worry about and revise for in year 11 (I’m currently in year 10, and we sit the food technology GCSE in this year instead of year 11, don’t ask me why!)  If posts are a little sparse, I apologise but it’s all rather hectic at the moment, I’ll be back to it soon!

Anyway, you didn’t come to read about my boring life, so I’l  get onto what this is actually about; my makeup wishlist.  I’ve been on pinterest a little too much recently (I’m super active over there, so you know, self promo and go follow me here!) and we all know what pinterest means – makeup, and nice makeup at that.  Now, as you can imagine, I want to buy all of it.  So I’ve put myself together a *little* wishlist in which I hope to get some of the things from it during this year.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Palette – I love the Too Faced eyeshadow palettes, they’re amazing quality and I already have the Chocolate Bar and Sweet Peach ones.  I am looking to collect all the bigger sized ones, which brings me onto my next one!

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette – I love the shades in this eyeshadow palette, they’re so pretty and I want this one even more than Semi Sweet!

Too Faced Born This Way – As you can see, there’s a running theme here with Too Faced, I just can’t help it, they have some of the best products.  Anyway, I’m yet to find a foundation, high end or drugstore, that I’ve loved.  I’m hoping this will be one which I love and will use none stop!

Naked 3 (or any of the Urban Decay Naked palettes actually) – It may come as a shock to you that I don’t actually own any of these palettes; they’re gorgeous and I don’t know why I haven’t managed to get my hands on one yet!  I especially love Naked 3, the rose gold tones are just beautiful!

Naked Skin Concealer – I’m also yet to find a concealer better than my seventeen one which I really like, and this is one I’ve been wanting to try for a long time.

theBalm - Cindy Lou highlighter powder - bronzer

The Balm Cindy-Lou Manizer – I’ve been loving the balm’s highlighters for a while but have never tried them.  The Mary-Lou Manizer is a really popular one, but I find that gold toned highlighters don’t really work for me, especially not around winter, and so I figured I’d try this one instead.  It’s a lot more pale pink toned and so more frosty.

The Porefessional Primer – I’ve never actually tried a higher end primer before but going by the reviews on this one, Benefit’s porefessional is definitely one to go for and I can’t wait to try it out.

Benefit Gimmie Brow – I recently started using a Pixie brow gel which is amazing but now I know that I really can’t live without a brow gel, I’m heading over to benefit as soon as and getting my hands on some of their brow products, which are supposedly amazing.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette –  Ever since seeing this palette I have been dead.  I mean look at it, how goregous!?

Soap & Glory Brow Archery – This brow pencil is supposed to be really great, and I’d really like to try it.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – *gasp* I’ve never tried this concealer.  I’ve seen people wearing it and talking about it, and it really seems amazing.  I’ve seen it loads of times, and it’s such a bargain I don’t know why I’ve never picked it up!

I hope to get all these products at some point, it would be great to have the eyeshadow palettes because I feel like that’s what I’m best at when it comes to makeup!  Anything else isn’t really a skill of mine.  Have you got any of these products? What’s on your wishlist?
