Recently, the lovely Sophie from Gobsmacked Lipsticks sent me one of her lipsticks to try, and boy am I impressed! Gobsmacked is a new brand, launching in August 2017 and they are all about making vegan lipsticks that don’t contain any nasty and potentially dangerous chemicals. I used to think that eco-friendly lipsticks/cosmetics meant that the final product would suffer in quality, but this lipstick has proved me so wrong; if anything, it has more staying power than lipsticks I usually use such as Rimmel London ones or Collection ones!
As you can see, the packaging looks very luxurious, and the gold band compliments the bamboo tube really nicely. The lid fits onto the base of the lipstick really nicely, and pulls off really smoothly which is always something I look for in a lipstick; quality packaging is so important! The tube feels really sturdy and nice to hold.
The formula is amazing, it’s very smooth and doesn’t drag on your lips – it glides really nicely. It smells divine, and is very moisturising all the while having a demi-matte type finish. It’s very pigmented and has an amazing hold, it lasts me a whole day at school easily.
The shade is so nice. It looks very mauvey purple, but it’s a very wearable dark nude which I’m really enjoying wearing whilst we’re on the run up to spring, although it does seem like we are in summer today; it’s been 27 degrees in my garden (i’m just a little burnt!).
You should definitely check out these lipsticks when they’re all up and running in August – I’m positive everyone will love these because there really is a shade for everyone!
P.S – Thank you so much for 300 followers going on for 310! What should I do to celebrate, make sure to leave me a comment xx!
Everyone has their perfect Christmas red. It’s the lipstick you always go to around this time of year, it screams festivity. You wear it throughout December at any chance you get, because if you can’t wear bright red at Christmas, when can you? Today I’m here to share with you my perfect Christmas lipstick!
This here is my favourite lipstick! It’s Kiko Milano’s lipstick in shade 811, a high shine berry red, which means it has pinky undertones which suit me more, as a harsh red just makes my skin look very pale and washed out. I love the formula, it’s very glossy and the application is so easy. Plus, Kiko have amazing makeup; they are not raved about in the beauty world enough!
This isn’t a good swatch as it makes the lipstick appear very sheer which it is not. It’s actually a very bold colour with great pigmentation. Plus, the great thing about high shine lipsticks, which we are using less and less often with most of us preferring matte liquid lipsticks, is that they don’t leave your lips feeling dry!
This lipstick doesn’t stay on as well as I’d like it to, and does transfer a little when you’re eating/drinking, but all in all it’s not a hugely inconvenient thing to reapply it every once in a while and it’s a small price to pay for something which completes a festive makeup look perfectly!
I really hope you enjoyed this post – what is your favourite lipstick for the Christmas time? Let’s have a chat in the comments!
So firstly let me just apologise for not blogging for three days, I couldn’t be bothered. Anyway, today I’m here with a review of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. NYX is a brand previously unavailable in the UK, but which has been creeping over from America and we can now find in most Boots stores across the country. I’m so glad that NYX has been introduced to the UK, because it sells amazing makeup for reasonable prices.
I’m reviewing the Soft Matte Lip Cream in shade 11, Milan. This shade looks like a muted pink through the packaging, yet is a bolder, richer shade of pink in formula. It is sold for £5.50 and you can buy it here.
The formula is not at all drying, it is very creamy as the name suggests. It does not dry my lips, and looks nice when applied, not clinging to dry patches of the lip as some liquid lipsticks do. It is very thick, having an even coverage which coats the entire lip. It glides on to the lips easily, and does not set into cracks or fine lines, which makes it really easy to remove.
The colour is highly pigmented, as you can see in the swatch below (excuse my ugly freckly hand). It is very bright and covers the whole lip evenly.
I really love the packaging. I think it’s really good quality and looks quite expensive. I love the matte lid, as it is obviously very similar to the finish of the product. The writing on the bottle is not too in your face, however it adds a really nice touch as it tells you briefly about the product.
Overall I would recommend buying the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream. It is an amazing product and with so many shades there will definitely be one to suit you. The only bad thing I would have to say about the shade Milan is that it is very bright Barbie pink and therefore is not very versatile. I would recommend a more neutral shade like Copenhagen. It also dries very quickly, which is a good thing that lots of liquid lipsticks lack.
Do any of you have any NYX products? Can you recommend some I should be getting next time I’m near a NYX counter?
Hope you enjoyed!
Love Soph xx
Just so you know I’ll be posting at 8pm GMT every day this summer. This is the easiest time for me, so check back at 8pm every day to see a new post from me! Today I bring you a review on the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick which I recently purchased from Boots and which will probably be coming up in a haul soon. Enjoy!
You can buy Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick here. It cost me £6.99 but online it is £4.99 which is a really great deal so I suggest you go snap it up!
Anyway, the colour I have is shade 50, Nude Thrill. It’s a really nice nude-pink colour which would suit any skin tone and I’m sure would look amazing with a tan!
This is what it looks like on my lips
WAIT A MINUTE DID YOU JUST SEE MY FACE?! You did!! From now on this blog is totally, 100% me. Anyway, ignore the freckle overload etc and enjoy the shade of lipstick? Anyway, as you can see the shade is really nice and neutral, but there’s so many gorgeous shades in the range you’re bound to find one you love if you don’t like this one in particular.
The consistency of the lipstick is really good, it’s creamy and thick but dries matte on your lips, yet doesn’t feel like you have a liquid lipstick on. It’s not at all drying and when you rub your lips together it feels creamy and moisturising. It has the staying power of something with an excellent staying power (
duh). I’ve had this one since about 10am this morning and at 8pm it’s still on! And I’ve had drinks, eaten food and it hasn’t budged at all.
So, all in all I’d rate this product a 10/10, it’s got great colour payoff, amazing staying power and a nice, smooth consistency. The applicator and packaging are functional and really attractive.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed & hopefully this has reassured you if you were a little dubious about buying this product!
