So, before I get into the post I’ve decided that I do need to get on top of tags/awards that I am nominated for, and so I have decided to do so by creating ‘Tag Tuesday’ on my blog! Basically, whenever I am nominated for a tag or an award, I’ll post them on a Tuesday, which means that every so often there should be an extra post a week!
So, onto the post, the lovely Courtney Eve has nominated me for the Leibster Award! I always enjoy doing these because they let you know so much more about bloggers, they’re super fun. So, make sure to go check out Courtney’s Blog and follow her!
The official rules for the award can be found here, on the Global Aussie’s blog.
Courtney’s Questions …..
What is your favourite thing to cook and/or bake? I love to bake, I do food technology GCSE so I cook pretty much every week. I loved making white chocolate and dark chocolate layered mousse with berry composite, but one of my true favourite things to bake are any form of bakewell tart; frangipani is my absolute favourite!
What’s the most extreme thing you’ve ever done? I don’t do many extreme things, but I suppose you could say my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award practice walk was the most extreme thing. We walked 20K on the first day, with a huge 16KG backpack on, and then camped (sleeping on the floor of the tent, which was a tragic time for my back) and then walked another 15K the next day. I had to learn to navigate from a map and it really tests your patience to spend so much time with so few people!
What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery? How much are we talking?! If I won the lottery, the first thing I’d do would go and tell my Mum so we could make plans of what to do! We’d probably book a nice relaxing holiday to soak in the news, and then I guess I’d start buying myself lots of nice things.
Of all the places you’ve travelled to, which one is your favourite? The south of France wins by miles. I love France, it’s so pretty and the beaches in the south are amazing, not to mention the weather. My favourite place has to be Pont Du Garde in Avignon, it’s so pretty and there’s a huge supermarket around the corner – I sound so sad, but French supermarkets are pretty amazing!
What is your favourite book, movie, and TV show? My favourite book has to be All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, my favourite movie is Pretty Woman and my favourite TV show has to be Gossip Girl!
What do you do in your down-time? I sleep, or at least lie in bed on my phone! I seem to be always tired, so whenever I’m not doing anything, I’m usually in bed!
What is your favourite post you’ve written and why? This is really tough, but my favourite post has to be either my Technic Makeup Review because it was my first PR related post and quite a turning point for my blog, or my Tips For New Bloggers post because I feel like it’s been pretty useful to people!
What is the scariest thing you’ve experienced? Hmmm, maybe every spider I’ve ever seen in my life? That, and the Edinburgh Dungeons; I love horror films but the whole live action people screaming at me isn’t a thing I enjoy. The whole time I was more scared of being picked to go up and get locked in a cage or something stupid more than the actual experience!
If you could take anyone travelling with you, who would it be and why? I’d probably take my best friend, because we live so far apart and basically never see each other (she lives in Yorkshire, I’m down here in Wiltshire and we only see each other for a few days in the summer and at christmas), so it would be amazing to go travelling with her and spend loads of time together!
What is one place you’d love to see? New York is the place I’d love to see the most. I think it’s such a breathtaking city and I’m so determined to go there; plus, I want to see all the gossip girl filming locations! If not New York, then somewhere a little closer to home is the hill in Bristol with the bench where a whole host of scenes from the tv show ‘Skins’ were filmed, and I just think it would be such a beautiful place to visit.
What do you love about yourself? Not very much! No, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t things I love about myself, but I’d say my number one thing would be my humor. It’s very sarcastic and quite rude, not for everyone but I love it, and I never fail to make myself laugh? That makes me sound so very lonely, but it is true!
This is a super quick, rushed post just to say that I’ve been shortlisted in the ‘Best Blogger 13-15’ section of the Teen Blogger Awards!!

The lovely Alanna from imagalaxygirl nominated me (in a fashion) for the One Lovely Blog Award! I loved the way she nominated people for this: it was so that if you were a particular like, so say you were the 20th like, and she had said that the 20th like was to be nominated , then you were nominated. It was really creative, I just explain things atrociously so you’ll have to go check out her post to find out how she did it! Again, thank you to Alanna and I’ll get onto the rules of the award.
Each nominee must THANK the person who nominated them and link their blog in the post.
They must include the rules and add the blog award badge as an image
Must add 7 facts about them.
Then nominate 15 people!
Seven Facts About Me:
In all honesty, there isn’t much to know about me that I don’t think you all know already, so some of these facts are a little weird and random as I’ve had a really hard timing coming up with them!
I am not a very creative person. That’s right – I may be a blogger but I am the least artistic person I know. I used to be into writing stories a while ago, and would like to do that a little more sometimes but I always get stuck halfway through, give up and forget about it. My dream was to be an author when I was a lot younger and first got into reading, but now I’m not at all sure what I’d like to do. I envy people who can draw well or have a natural gift at writing narrative!
I often indulge in a little retail therapy. I love shopping, which may or may not be a little sad though I feel like many of you are in the same boat. Ever since I was younger, one of my favourite activities was to go shopping but back then I’d just raid Disney Store and Claire’s Accessories and waste my money. Now, I love to shop in Topshop and Hollister mainly. I actually went shopping last weekend and did some pretty serious damage to my bank account – I consider myself on a spending ban for the rest of the month!
I am really bad at falling asleep on a nighttime. I find it so hard to fall asleep at night, and then I end up staying awake all night long and waking up in the morning feeling like pure rubbish! I have improved slightly since I’ve started taking melatonin more often and limiting myself to the time I have on my phone before I go to bed (a quick tip for anyone like me would be to turn the brightness of your phone all the way down and turn night shift on when you’re looking at it in the dark as it is less of a strain on your eyes!)
I’m doing DofE. That’s right, lazy old me is completing my Duke of Edinburgh award! I’m at the bronze level, and I was regretting it whilst we were on our ten mile practice walk a couple of weekends ago; the weather was horrible! It rained the most part, and at one point we were climbing a hill which was really muddy and it started to hail and I fell down the hill! It was a great laugh and I enjoyed being with my friends but it was equally tiring and freezing. For my physical section I’m doing walking/hiking – I’m not a sporty person so this was an option I felt was good and I can achieve easily on weekends with my family. My skills section is gardening which is actually more fun than I’d expected and since this is the section I’m doing for 6 months it means I’ll get to enjoy my garden in the summer more. For volunteering I’m looking to volunteer in some local charity shops and someone got back to me today and arranged a meeting on Saturday which I’m slightly nervous for but all in all everything is turning out pretty good!
I still play Pokemon Go. Yep, I’m that guy! I got hooked when it first came out and although I don’t leave my bedroom very often (living a really fun reclusive life if any of you were wondering) to go catch pokemon, I do enjoy it whilst I’m out and about! I’m a level sixteen now & I have caught some pretty decent pokemon – I still have a small moment of joy when I see a pikachu! It may be sad, but I’m not giving up on it any time soon! Do any of you still play it or am I alone in this game?
One of my biggest obsessions (aside from cats!) is makeup. Like you couldn’t have guessed this, I’m a bit of a makeup fanatic. I have a whole dressing table drawer brimming with the stuff, and it never stops growing! I’m thinking of maybe buying the Alex Drawers from ikea in their five set to store some of my makeup in, as I don’t think I’ll ever collect enough to fill the nine drawers but I reckon that five full drawers is pretty achievable!
I would love to travel when I’m older. The idea of continuing school after college and going on to get a more ‘professional’ job like a doctor or a vet really doesn’t appeal to me. I haven’t actually got a single clue what I would like to do after college, but I’m 99% sure it’s not going to be university. I’d love to travel, and I’m always so inspired by Charlotte from CHARLOTTE J. She’s travelling solo at the moment and I would love to do something like that! The place at the top of my list is Iceland to see the northern lights and go in the lagoons, though I’d also love to go backpacking around Europe and try to visit as many of the cities as I can. The one place I’d really love to go is Italy, because as of this far in my fourteen years I’ve never been!

I’m dropping you in an extra post this week, you’ll (maybe?) be pleased to hear! I didn’t think that a post such as blog awards constituted for a Saturday/Wednesday post however I really wanted to do this and I’m going to start doing the blog awards which I do receive during the week as extra posts instead of being lazy and ignoring them as I always do – I think they’re really positive ways to express your admiration of a blog and get blogs you value noticed by others.
The lovely Chloe from Marble Beauty nominated me for two blogger awards, which I am extremely grateful for! Chloe’s blog is one I love so much – she’s incredibly active and posts quality content literally every day. You really do need to go follow her, I guarantee you’ll love her posts just as much as I do. I was nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award and the Versatile Blogger Award. Like Chloe, I’ll be leaving my nominees for both awards at the end of the post so make sure to stay tuned!

I used to really love reading when I was younger (like 10,11,12 years old) and would devour a book in a day. I never really read much anymore, unless I’m on holiday when I can finish a good ten books in a week! I’d love to get back into reading though, but I read in school and it’s so boring there so I’m never in the mood to do it at home.
I love more literary subjects at school like English or History. My brain is definitely not mathematically or logically minded; I’m horrible at chemistry, maths and physics but I can do biology and actually really enjoy it.
I like to think I’m a tidy, organised person and a bit of a neat freak but in reality I’m such a mess and that definitely reflects in the state of my bedroom!
Questions From Marble Beauty:
What is your all time favourite makeup item? – I absolutely adore mascara and couldn’t live without it, my favourite has to be Benefit’s Roller Lash.
Best holiday you ever went on? – My favourite holiday has to be my two and a half weeks I spent in the south of France in 2015 in the French Riviera. We went to St. Tropez, and visited lots of rivers which I swam in (they were pretty chilly but it was warm when you got out, so it was fine). My favourite place has to be Pont Du Gard in Avingon area, it was so lovely and swimming in it was amazing – there were lots of little fish and the water was so warm. Plus, the supermarkets in Avingon are insane, they’re great all over France actually. Hopefully we’ll be going back when I’ve finished my GCSEs!
Favourite way to spend your freetime? – This sounds like a question from my recent French speaking exam! I usually like to cosy up in my bed or on the sofa with my laptop and phone and just browse the internet and maybe play some Sims which is my complete obsession. I usually have chocolate with me too, my diet is just shocking!
If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose? – I have two cats, whom I love so dearly and couldn’t live without. Cats are my favourite animal, but I wont be classic crazy cat lady and answer this question with ‘more cats’. I’d actually really love a tiger for a pet, they look so fluffy and cuddly, although I’m sure they’d probably rip my face off!
What are your top 3 staple clothing items? – I’d probably say black joni jeans from Topshop, I wear these literally all the time. Then a light jacket, such as one I’ve been really loving from Hollister recently – it’s khaki and goes with almost everything. Finally, I’d say white converse – I wear these with pretty much every outfit and they always go! I’m so basic haha!
What are you wearing?
What is your ultimate comfort food?
Which song reminds you of a holiday?
When was the last time you went shopping?
If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?
You have to thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog!

Share 7 facts about yourself (being truthful!)
I don’t clean my makeup brushes and tools anywhere near as often as I should. I can see them now and they really need a clean!
I’m absolutely addicted to Ed Sheeran’s new album, Divide. It’s playing right now, and my favourite song has to be ‘What do I know?’ or ‘Nancy Mulligan’ – I especially think Nancy Mulligan is so sweet as it’s about his grandfather, William, and Nancy is his grandmother!
I’m the biggest procrastinator that you’ll find! All my homework is left until the very last minute, e.g 10:30pm the night before it’s due, or at lunch on the same day it’s due. However, I do sometimes have extremely productive days, which can be odd and quite disconcerting!
I’m a big person in writing things down! My desk cupboards are filled with beautiful, half filled notebooks of random ideas. The thing is, I never finish them and I still buy more. I have enough to sink a ship!
My favourite country I’ve been to has to be France, and I would really love to visit Australia and the Maldives.
When I’m older I honestly have no clue what I want to do for a job, but I was thinking about doing biology A-Level. I know I don’t want to go to uni, and I’d love to work with animals.
I really don’t want children, they annoy the hell out of me and I don’t think I could stand having any!
The amazing and wonderful and lovely Alanna over at I’m A Galaxy Girl has nominated me for the Bloggers Recognition Award! Alanna is one of THE best people I’ve met over blogging, she’s so kind and amazing and is one of my most loyal followers. I love her so much, and you should all go check out her wonderful blog and follow her – she posts every single day which, as we all know, is the real struggle in life and she always keeps up to it. Amazing, anyway, I’ll get on with the award (but you really should follow Alanna!).

My Journey as a Blogger
In January/February 2015 I had just started a new school & still I was a bit bored (typical) and I’d always wanted to start a blog. I read through loads of other blogs and then realised that blogging didn’t have to include my name, I could be whoever I wanted to be whilst still being myself. That’s when my Mum and I (who was very frustrated at me for always being so bored) came up with the oh-so-creative I’m A Zalfie Fanatic. I blogged nearly every day at first, didn’t know how to use wordpress and was getting no followers, and I very nearly gave up. I started learning how to use wordpress and soon I found I had a good few followers and that just grew. Now, I’m 120-odd followers and so so so glad I didn’t give up, because blogging is one of my favourite things in my life. It’s amazing to connect with other people, have a supportive group of friends who can listen to you whenever and I’ve met some great people along the way. I recently stopped being anonymous and revealed my name (my last post here) and I got so much support it’s insane. I’m looking to make my blog more me, more professional etc and everyone just supports me in everything I do. It’s particularly great, actually.
My Advice to Other Bloggers
Good quality photos – I’m the biggest culprit for not sticking to this rule, but I cannot express how important it is! Cover photos are the first things someone who’s looking at your post is probably going to see, so the more eye catching it is the more likely they are to click it. When you’re taking photos for your blog, research other really successful bloggers and look at how they take photos. Choose a style and try stick to it. The camera you use is important – Iphone 6 has a great camera, and it’s good to use on the go if you see a pretty flower and want to snap it for your blog, but if you’re taking a good photo, ideally you should use a good camera. Lucky for me, my Dad has a canon camera which I may or may not be inclined to stealing forever once or twice, but you can always buy a cheaper digital camera and they work well too.
Have fun – Your blog should be about you, and you should always try to be yourself on your blog. However, a rule i use above that is to have fun. Blogging shouldn’t be a chore, it should be a place you can escape and have fun. Always make sure what you’re posting is you, and when you wrote it you had fun and you liked the outcome. Then, all your followers are more likely to enjoy reading it if they can sense it’s well written and fun.
Never give up – Blogging is hard, there’s no doubt about it. Keeping up a schedule is hard, getting inspiration for posts is hard, taking photos and writing can be hard. But whatever is going on, however hard you’re finding it, whoever is giving you grief, even if you have so little hope left in yourself you don’t know the definition of hope, don’t give up. Blogging will get easier and chances are you’re just frustrated, bored with it, if you have such a small following, still don’t give up. Keep going, and in the long run you’ll thank me for it!
Interaction with followers -If anything this is my most valuable piece of advice. You must must must interact with your followers. I’m not saying follow everyone back who follows you, but if they comment on your post be sure to reply, even if it is just ‘Thank you’. If they ask you to check out their blog then do, and go like/comment on some posts. You never know, you might find a blog you love. Your followers will realise you’re actually all for blogging and be more loyal to your blog if you interacr with them.
