My FAVOURITE Autumn Lipstick | A Review

Hi guys!

We’re well and truly into the depths of the autumn season now and I am LOVING it!  It’s just so cosy to be able to wear big jumpers and light beautiful spicy candles, and as always I love the makeup for this season! Everyone is pulling out those dark, berry lips and I am no exception.  Last year, my favourite lipstick was one from the Rimmel Kate Moss collection, but this year I’ve switched it up a bit and found a new lipstick to obsess over, and so I thought (kind as I am!) that I’d share it on here with you guys.

The L’oreal Paris Colour Riche Matte lipstick in the shade 430/Mon Jules is such a beautiful lipstick.  I am totally in love, and I adore wearing this on days where I’m going out of the house – which is rare, and in general in the autumn season.  It’s such a gorgeous shade, and I really like it because the colour isn’t too purple, which I find often happens with these berry lipsticks.  I prefer to have a more burgundy tone to mine, I mean, don’t get me wrong I love to have a purple tone in there too, but more of a plummy shade and I feel like this lipstick really has it all right colour wise!

The formula is really lovely too.  The lipstick definitely has a matte finish, but it applies really nicely and the finish is very smooth looking.  I don’t find it too drying at all, in fact I wouldn’t even say you would have to use a lipbalm after wearing this if you didn’t want to (although I do always use one).  The colour fades really nicely as you go through your day, however the lasting power is incredible, I’ve found this easily lasts for six hours without budging a single bit! However, it can be a bit prone to smudging and going all over your face should you accidentally touch your lips, but I find this happens with all darker shades of lipstick.

Thats an unedited picture of a swatch of this lipstick so that you can get a true impression of the colour that it really is!

My only problem with this lipstick is that the packaging feels a bit cheap.  The gold bit is lovely, however the black casing feels very plasticy and seems as though it has a somewhat false embossed leathery design on it.  I really don’t like the look it gives this lipstick, but what can you do? Especially when the lipstick is so good inside!

Have you ever tried a lipstick like this?  Whats your favourite shade of autumn lipstick?

YSL Touche Eclat Review

I recently went on a trip to Berlin with school, and in duty free at the airport I decided to treat myself as I had loads of euros left over.  It was a really small one at Berlin Tegel Airport, but they did have a YSL stand and I had wanted this foundation for quite a while so I decided to get it.  They didn’t have super pale shades, which is what I would’ve usually deviated for, but I was pretty surprised to find that the shade ‘cool sand’ actually matched my skin pretty well; maybe I’d even got a tan over the nice weather we had a few weeks ago!

The packaging is super luxurious!  I love it, and it looks really high end.  Glass foundation bottles always seem really special to me, and the gold writing and gold lid just add to the luxury feel.

The application is amazing.  It goes on flawlessly, and blends in to create a really glowy, dewy finish.  The foundation is quite liquid, which, duh, but it is quite a runny formula but I like that.  It makes it more moisturising, which helps with my dry skin.  It doesn’t sink into your skin and end up looking cakey, which I find can be a problem when foundation sinks into my smiles lines around my mouth.  It is really long lasting and I can put it on before I go to school, and it will still be pretty much perfect by the time I’m done with the day.  It can be really natural and perfect for everyday, but it can also be made more glam and full coverage for the nighttime, which makes it a really ideal foundation.

This cost me 41 euros, but it is £33 in debenhams, and I think it’s really worth the money.  It’s a quality foundation, and it will last a good six months if not more.  I’m really glad I bought it, and would recommend it to anyone!

Benefit Roller Lash Review

I recently purchased Roller Lash by Benefit in the boxing day sales for £19.50.  You can buy it here on Benefit’s website.  We all know that Benefit are really rather wonderful, right?  They always create amazing makeup which never fails to live up to expectations.  I’ve been wanting to try this mascara for a long time now, and so I figured that I’d grab it when I was last shopping and give it a go.  I can tell you, I wasn’t disappointed!

The first thing which struck me about the mascara was the packaging.  I know that technically this really shouldn’t matter, because you’re not paying for the tube but for the actual product inside.  However, it always makes you feel better having forked out (a worthwhile, don’t get the wrong idea here) £19.50 when the packaging looks so amazing.  Staying true to it’s name, the packaging really reminds me of hair rollers, especially the lid.  The lid is in fact really nice to hold, which always helps to achieve a nice look on your eyelashes.  I think the black and pink looks very chic and pretty, and I love displaying this on my dressing table.

The wand on the mascara is amazing.  It has loads of hook like bristles which are gentle on the eyelashes and still manage to catch each and every single lash for optimum length.  Because the bristles really powerfully hook onto your lashes, they help achieve a really dark black look and create intense, uplifted curls.  You can really layer this mascara for a deep black long and voluminous looking lash effect, or just keep it to a simple one or two coats, wiggling the brush from the lashline to the top of your eyelashes, for a simple, long lashed, fresh eyed daytime look.  I love using this for school as I feel like it makes my eyes look bigger and more awake, which is exactly what I need!

The formula itself shocked me, as I wasn’t expecting it to be so amazing.  Don’t get me wrong, I was expecting something pretty good for the pricetag (which is totally reasonable considering how great this mascara actually is), but not something as good as this.  I feel like I really put it to the test on Tuesday at school.  I had my average six hour school day, but it was the first day back, I had a history exam first period and then also was in a new maths set, which really stressed me out.  Throughout the day when I checked my makeup, my mascara was holding up so well!  There was no smudging on my lower lashline and no wearing off in length and the curl had held itself up.  When I got home to remove it (I’m weird like this, I always will take my makeup off as soon as I can!), it was still on and in good nick, the curl was still there along with the length, and there was no smudging or anything bad.  It’s a smooth formula which is really nice to apply, it doesn’t ever go clumpy, but sometimes it feels a little bit sticky which can be weird, but if you are gentle with the brush it doesn’t do this.

Overall, I really love this mascara, and I think its a great idea to buy it if you’re looking for mascara which will last all day and give you really long, defined & curled lashes then Benefit’s Roller Lash is a really good one for that.  Personally, I think it’s better for everyday use as it can give a more lighter, daytime look, versus a smoky nighttime one.
