My Everyday Makeup Bag – Collab!

Today I’m doing a collab which is always exciting.  This post is in collaboration with Maleehah from Beauty Filled Blog.  She’s so lovely and an amazing blogger, you should all go check out her blog and follow her!  Her post is also going to be about what things she keeps in her makeup bag on a daily basis, so make sure to go check it out!

Anyway, today I’m bringing you a closer look into what I’m using at the moment makeup wise.  This changes so often, and since I took the pictures from this post I’ve started using a new concealer!  There are some products which will never change because they’re so perfect for everyday and I love to use them, like my powder and my mascara, but others are always subject to change.  I don’t wear too much makeup on a daily basis, considering I’m in school a lot of the time and on a morning a full blown makeup routine can take quite some time – plus, I much prefer sleep!  However, I do wear some every day and this is usually what it consists of!

img_4273

First up we have suncream.  I’ll admit, I don’t do this every day, but when I do the one I would use is the ultrasun face.  It’s perfect for sitting under makeup, and it’s always really important to have a sun protection factor on your face to protect it; this one is factor 30.

img_4277

Next up would be concealer.  Like most people, I have fallen in love with the collection lasting perfection concealer.  This one is amazing, and for such an inexpensive price the lasting time and coverage is amazing, not to mention the creamy formula.  I love this one so much, and even when I do change concealers I always end up back with this!

img_4279

My mascara of choice is benefit’s roller lash, which by now you must know I adore.  I don’t know how many times I’ve raved about this mascara, but it works total magic. My eyelashes go from boring to curly and long and fluttery within minutes, and it lasts so well.  It doesn’t have a cheap, greasy formula that imprints onto your eyelids which I find so many other concealers do; this is so perfect for the hot days we’ve been having recently (can I just say THANK YOU ENGLAND!).

I always use a lip balm, and burt’s bees will forever hit the spot on that one.  My favourite one is the peppermint one.  It’s very revitalising and it makes my lipstick apply so smooth.  My lips are never chapped when I use this!

img_4274

I always use the rimmel stay matte powder, which I’m sure everyone is familiar with by now.  This is the best, most affordable powder ever and it keeps me looking matte all day long.  Need I say more!

Highlight and blush are something that are essential pieces of my routine. Too faced do amazing blushes and I love this one in the shade love flush.  It’s creamy, long lasting and pigmented, plus, the packaging is adorable!  Too faced never fail to impress me when it comes to packaging.

img_4285img_4282

For highlight, recently I’ve been loving Technics palette which I reviewed a while ago.  It’s nicely pigmented and while it doesn’t last for ages it does have a nice staying power.  Plus, it’s a much more affordable option to the sleek solstice palette.

img_4275

Because it’s getting more summery at the moment, I’ve been using my peach palette literally every day!  The too faced eyeshadow palettes are more than impressive, and if you want to see a full review on it you can click here!

Finally, I love using the too faced melted liquid lipsticks.  The shade chihuahua is my favourite, because it’s just so natural and easy to go with everything.  These feel so smooth and barely there when you have them on, but the colour payoff is amazing.

Hope you enjoyed taking a closer look into what products I use on a daily basis.  Make sure to check out Maleehah’s post too!  Also, just as a warning I have my year ten exams coming up soon and revision is killing me so I might not be posting twice a week, but I’ll aim for once a week either on a saturday or a wednesday.  I would love to do a post on revision to help some of you out, so if you’d like to see that make sure to leave a comment!

Carving Pumpkins For Halloween!

Hi Guys!

Today I’m actually bringing you this post in collaboration with my friend Becca (blog here). Bex is also doing a post on her pumpkins, and when we went round to her house to carve them.  We also made pumpkin soup and roasted the pumpkin seeds.  So if you’d like to see that make sure to go check it out once you’ve read this post!

I though’t I’d take you through my pumpkin carving process step by step, although you all probably know how to do it!  This way you can at least see how I carved my pumpkins!  All the photos were taken by Alex, my brother, so thank you Al.

poompken photo cover.jpg

Okay so first, here’s everything I used (minus a black binbag and some sellotape)!  So i had a large pumpkin and a smaller pumpkin to carve, and I also got the carving kit from Tesco.  I’d actually really recommend this because it did help me carve through the pumpkin easily and not break one of my Mum’s knives.  Plus the big red spoon for scraping out the insides was great!  The stencil of the ghost was printed out from google images, just search ‘pumpkin carving stencils’ and loads will come up!

img_3211

I first cut all the black bits out of the ghost until it looked like this.  This part was really fiddly, especially with the huge scissors I used.  I’d recommend using small scissors, even like nail scissors or something for the eyes.  However I did manage, and the stencil worked perfectly fine.

After this, stick your stencil onto the pumpkin with sellotape and draw it on.  I used a plain biro which I wouldn’t recommend because it was really hard to get off, i had to make sure I cut onto the lines directly.  Instead, use a sharpie and use hairspray/styling spray and a cotton pad to get rid of it.  I found it helpful to mark the places I needed to cut out with an X so I didn’t get confused.

After this, I took the pumpkin outside and began to cut the hole in the top.  I found a trick online where you cut the hole on top and a ‘door’ type thing in the back connecting to it.  Not only did this make it miles easier to scrape the insides out of, it’s easier to get a tealight in there to light it up.  Make sure to cut all the pumpkin gunk off the door/lid thing too.  The red scoopy spoon here was amazing at removing all the gunk, because it had a serrated side and a pasta-strainer type side which was really good at ragging the seeds and stuff out.  As you can see, I am very very excited about that spoon.

After all the inside gunk was out and binned, I began cutting the design out of my pumpkin.  This was really easy because of the knives that came with the carving kit.   They got around corners really easily and were strong and didn’t bend (until Alex viciously carved his pumpkin with them!).  Plus they had a serrated edge meaning they got through hard pumpkins easily!

After this, I was finished!  My pumpkin was carved and I had a cute little ghost pumpkin staring back at me.  My phone died so I couldn’t force Alex to photograph me as I carved the other one, but place your bets now on what I carved into it (and whether you’re going to be able to recognise it…!)

img_3259

That’s right, it is a cat!  A cat and a ghost to suit all your halloweeny needs, you don’t have to thank me.  Alex carved two pumpkins also, and wanted me to show you them.  Here goes our little pumpkin family!!

img_3258

And here they are in the dark, candles burning! However my ghost one did blow out and I couldnt be bothered to light it up again!

So, thats all for my pumpkin carving antics!  Remember to check out Becca’s blog post here to see what we got up to at her house!  Have you carved your pumpkins yet?  Tweet me a photo @ZalfieFanatic – I’d love to see what you’re getting up to!

I have an email!

Hey!

Just thought I’d make a super quick post about my new email for my blog!  Previously, I didn’t have an email for this blog, which made collaborative posts a little difficult as they were all arranged over twitter.  I now have an email for this blog so you can all email me, we can arrange collaborations etc.

The email is sophieblog08@gmail.com – imaginative I know, cringeworthy, I know.

Thats all,

Monthly Favourites//Collaboration

Hey guys!!

So today I’m brining you a regular, monthly post with a twist. This is my first ever collaborative post!  Today I’m collabing with Alanna from I’m A Galaxy Girl.  Today I’m going to be showing you Alanna’s favourites for January, and also mine.  Make sure you all go check out her blog and follow her, she’s amazing!!

Alanna’s Favourites For January:

img_0329

Green Tea: ‘This is in my favourites because this has been my saviour.  I am suffering with my acid at the moment and I’ve found that green tea has sort of helped.  I don’t like the plain ones, I only like the mango and passion fruit.  I have also found that green tea is helping with my weight loss.’

img_0330

Simple Facial Toner & Cleansing Lotion:  ‘I have heard a lot about the simple brand but never used them until this month.  I have such bad skin but using these has had a huge impact.  The cleansing lotion has really helped my skin and has kept it hydrated and soft.  The facial toner has a weird smell to it but it has helped by keeping my face look refreshed.’

img_0331

Still Perfectly Clear Summer Fruits Water: ‘I have been drinking a lot of water lately and it has really helped my health but I have found that I don’t like drinking plain water.  My favourite seems to be summer fruit flavoured.  I have loads of empty bottles scattered around my room.’

img_0332

Alpen Cherry Bakewell Bars: ‘I struggle to eat breakfast in the morning, I just can’t stomach it, so instead I have taken to eating a “breakfast” bar.  I usually eat special K, but I thought I would try something different.  The bars are chewy but the flavour is strong (which is a good thing).  I have bought myself a few boxes just because they taste so nice.’

img_0333

WordPress: ‘This has never been on my favourites before but that’s because I didn’t have a reason for it to be.  This is now my favourite app, it outshines snapchat and instagram.  I have found that since the beginning of the year, you all seem more interested in my blog and love it.  You are all the reason why I blog.  Whenever I feel stressed or I am bored, I always find myself reading peoples posts and I love it.’

My Crush But Not Crush: ‘Can he be in my favourites?  I call him this because he has a girlfriend but we share a very emotional history.  We kind of hand an argument just before Christmas and we hadn’t spoken until the other day.  He didn’t even want anything.  It was just a simple message to see how I am doing.  It’s the smallest things that he does that just makes my heart melt.  I find myself smiling at the memories I had with him.  I don’t think I would be as happy as I am now without him being a part of my past.’

My Mum: ‘Okay so this should not be included in this post, but tough.  My Mum has been my rock.  I scream and shout at her, I tell her I hate her but she still sticks by me.  I have found that I really do need her.  She has been right by my side throughout my illness, she even slept on the hospital floor because she wouldn’t leave me there on my own.  I have made her cry so many times and I regret it now.  I am so thankful that I have a Mum that will hold my hand through everything.  I mean she literally does hold my hand, especially when walking through a dark alley.’

So that’s Alanna’s January favourites all done!  I’m now going to move on to mine!

Firstly, I have my new phone.  I got my Iphone 6 in silver at the start of the month, and I have to say I really do adore it!  Everything seems so much nicer to view on big screen, and the camera quality is far superior to that of the 5c, which was my old phone.  Also, my WordPress app seems to have sped up, and the typing function no to be crippled with total slowness as it used to be.  I also have this case, which is a mint green mandala pattern.  You can buy this here, but it is an amazing, protective case.

img_0230

Next up I have my favourite round of skincare for this month.  Alanna and I share the same taste in skincare, clearly!  From right to left, this is all by simple and it is nourishing eye makeup remover cream, soothing facial toner, purifying cleansing lotion and micellar cleansing water.  All these products have helped to keep my skin hydrated and moisturised, and protected it from the cold, which it usually takes a nasty blow from.  I have noticed the condition of my skin being better and that it tends not to have breakouts as often.

img_0306

Next is my favourite workout app.  Whilst I don’t workout as often as I’d like to, when I do, the SWORKIT app really helps.  It is free on the app store and is generally so amazing.  It allows you to search through many workouts in various sections (strength, cardio, yoga and stretching) and also allows you to create your own workouts which are entirley personalised, from the name to the exercises in the workout and how long you do them for.  This has really helped me workout more often, although I should workout more than I do still!!

img_0224

Thorntons Mini Tray Bakes: I guess that’s the only thing I can call them.  Essentially, these are mini tray-bake type desserts (brownies and caramel shortcake are the two featured, although I’m sure there are many more to find), but really what they are is amazing little drops of heaven that melt in your mouth.  They become addictive after the first bite, I’ve been eating these since the start of the month and haven’t stopped.  And 70p for a 10 pack of these divine little things.  You’ll find it so hard to say no  I found mine in Tescos for anybody wanting to try these out.

img_0308

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: Come on, did you really expect me not to include this.  This eyeshadow palette is the best thing to walk the earth.  The possibilities are endless with this, I got it for Christmas however it is on the pricey side, £39.00.  I just feel like it’s so worth it because really it’s the only palette you’ll ever need, you can transform your eyes from plain to everyday to sparkly evening wear.  I wear this day in, day out and I have still yet to find all the combinations.  And the smell, good lord almighty the smell.  It honestly wakes me up on a morning, it feels and smells as if you’re putting nutella and all things chocolatey and lovely on your eyelids but it’s still not too overpowering.   And I do soon have a makeup tutorial with this coming out, like I promised so make sure to check back if you want to see that!

So, thats my first Monthly Favourites of the year, for the month of January.  It’s also my first ever collaboration post!  That’s so exciting!!  I’d like to thank Alanna for being so cooperative with my horrible organization skills, I basically got my stuff into her twitter messages right at the last minute.  Remeber to go follow her, she’s linked at the top of this post & if you’re not following me, do, because I’m bringing out loads of exciting new content soon that you won’t want to miss!!

If you ever want to contact me about a collaborative post, or even just want to have a chat with me, my twitter is @ZalfieFanatic – make sure you follow me as well, as I’m on private so you won’t be able to see me tweet unless you do ;D

Bye!!
